Why am I involved?
Mountain Brook is fortunate to have such an outstanding Police Department and Fire Department, and I am honored to be involved in the formation of the First Responder Foundation because I believe it is crucial to support the men and women who tirelessly serve and protect our community so well. I’ve seen first-hand how both the Police and Fire Departments respond during an emergency, and it is with gratitude that I am able to serve on a board whose sole purpose is to support our First Responders in their times of need.

Why am I involved?
I am honored to support the Mountain Brook First Responders Foundation because I believe in giving back to those who dedicate their lives to keeping our community safe. First responders face challenges every day that most of us never have to think about, and I want to ensure they have the resources, recognition, and support they need. Through my involvement with the foundation, I hope to make a meaningful impact by strengthening the connection between financial stewardship and community service, ensuring these heroes receive the appreciation they deserve.

LIZZIE MAYMON

Lizzie Maymon is the Executive Director of the Mountain Brook Chamber of Commerce, where she works alongside the Board of Directors to promote our businesses, our community, and our quality of life in Mountain Brook. Lizzie’s career began at Norton Healthcare after graduating from Harding University, where she played a pivotal role in program development, patient support services, and leading fundraising initiatives. She later earned her Master’s in Healthcare Administration from the University of Grantham. Returning to her hometown of Birmingham, she transitioned to clinical marketing, focusing on strengthening community relations and patient engagement. As the previous Events and Membership Coordinator,  Lizzie’s passion for community and growth encouraged her to step into the role of Executive Director for the Mountain Brook Chamber.

Why am I involved?
Our first responders choose to place themselves in a role that requires extensive compassion, empathy, and support for those in the community. I consider it an honor and privilege to build these deeper connections and serve on the Mountain Brook First Responders Foundation to establish support for those who support us. I look forward to the opportunity to support the men and women who choose to provide this support to our community.

COURTENAY BULLOCK

Courtenay Bullock has been immersed in the world of fashion and retail from an early age, growing up with a deep appreciation for well-tailored and thoughtfully designed clothing. With her father owning a men’s clothing store for over three decades, she naturally developed a passion for the industry. This love led her to study Apparel Design at Auburn University before launching her career in New York City, where she worked with renowned brands like Roxanne Assoulin and Theory. Her time in the fashion capital sharpened her eye for style and retail, reinforcing her belief in the power of fashion as a form of self-expression and confidence.

During the pandemic, Courtenay and her husband returned to Mountain Brook, where she envisioned creating a space that would bring women together and celebrate the joy of getting dressed. That vision became Le Weekend, a boutique dedicated to effortless yet elevated fashion. In the years since, she has expanded both her business and her family, welcoming her daughter, Ralph, and growing her boutique into a larger space. With a heart for community and a passion for style, Courtenay continues to make her mark on Birmingham’s fashion scene, helping women feel their best in beautifully curated pieces.

Why am I involved?
I am deeply committed to giving back to those who serve our community, especially first responders. I recognize the critical role they play in keeping Birmingham safe and feel passionate about supporting their efforts through the Mountain Brook First Responders Foundation. Whether through fundraising, advocacy, or hands-on initiatives, I am dedicated to ensuring these heroes receive the appreciation and resources they deserve.

David regularly meets with his District’s PTOs at all educational levels, and maintains an ongoing dialog with the local superintendents to stay up to speed on the challenges our educational systems face and the opportunities available to assist them on their mission.

Why am I involved?
My commitment to the Mountain Brook community runs deep, and my involvement as a Board Member of the Mountain Brook First Responder Foundation was another opportunity to continue this dedication. I recognize the invaluable role of first responders in safeguarding our community and see the Foundation as a crucial platform to ensure their well-being and support.

STEVEN HYDINGER

Steven Hydinger is a life-long resident of Mountain Brook aside from 10 years post-graduation from Alabama. His time away from Mountain Brook coupled with his work-related travel and experiences with many other cities has provided him with a broad perspective, and he realizes how fortunate his family, friends, and neighbors are to live in the Mountain Brook community, especially with its access to all the amazing services and emergency response teams.

In the community, Steven has served as President of the Chamber or Commerce, volunteered as Assistant Scout Master with Troop 86, has coached youth sports, and served on the vestry at St. Luke’s Church. He has worked at BREC Development, LLC for over 20 years developing apartments in the southeast.

Why am I involved?
When anyone in our community experiences a life-changing incident our First Responders are there for my family, my neighbors and friends. The Mountain Brook First Responders Foundation is a way for our community to be there for them should they face a life-changing situation in their lives.
